This project, “We have The Ability to Live Forever (but do we want to)” was a four year long experiment that ended in 2014.
The project initially intended to poke fun at the current societal influx of inane digital imagery, but developed into an exploration of the terms ‘ironic’ and ‘ pastiche’ and the changes in degrees of sincerity that are both lost and gained by, breaching these definitions and by overextending them.
Is to be too often, ‘ironically over-dramatic’, just ‘dramatic’ or to what degree is its sincerity?
The project is made up by an overwhelming 616 basic cell phone images. In print they are scaled at less than 1”x1” on two 24”x70” contact sheets displayed as a diptych.
